Reverend Doctor Myrtle Bowen’s tri-vocational experiences includes being a Chaplain, Architectural Engineer, and Presiding Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.
An Air National Guard Military Chaplain since 1998, Dr. Myrtle Bowen is the first African American Woman Chaplain promoted to the rank of Colonel serving in the United States Air Force Air National Guard. As a Reserve Chaplain in the Air National Guard, she is the Assistant to the Command Chaplain for the United States Africa Command; which is comprised of over 122,000 Military personnel. She is also the former Wing Chaplain for the District of Columbia Air National Guard for 1,200 Airmen and she has served at Delaware Air National Guard, Dover Air Force Base and Arlington National Cemetery.
